May 2026 Gaming Update

May is shaping up to be one of the biggest months of the year, headlined by Forza Horizon 6 finally taking us to Japan and IO Interactive's 007 First Light. Here's my personal roundup of what's happening this month.

Directive 8020 β May 12β
Sci-fi action game set on a distant planet. After years of anticipation since its initial reveal, seeing this one finally launch is exciting, Season 2 Premiere The Dark Pictures Anthology. Coming to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
Forza Horizon 6 β May 19 (Early Access May 15)β
The long-awaited Japan setting is here. Playground Games is delivering the largest and most dense map in Horizon history, with over 550 real-world cars, Tokyo City as the biggest urban area in the series, Touge Battles on mountain passes, and customizable garages. Available on Xbox Series X|S and PC (day one with Game Pass). PS5 version coming later in 2026.
Yoshi and the Mysterious Book β May 21β
A new Yoshi adventure exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2. Nintendo keeps delivering strong first-party titles for the new console.
LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight β May 22β
A new LEGO Batman game that brings the brick-building charm to Gotham. Available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
007 First Light β May 27β
IO Interactive's reimagined James Bond origin story. Players step into the shoes of a young, 26-year-old Bond as he earns his 00 status. The Hitman studio is blending stealth, action, and cinematic set-pieces with combat inspired by the Arkham games. Available on PC, Nintendo Switch 2, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
